January 2025 – Tribe Moments
Sweet goals versus challenging goals
Dear Tribe,
We are at the end of January 2025, and it almost feels unreal that 1 out of 12 months have just flown by so quickly. The beginning of the year is usually when many people feel obliged to set goals for the year. Many are very diligent and stick to it, no matter what. Others…tend to forget when the first distractions come. I’m sure you all know what I am talking about.
So, what is the difference between sweet and demanding or challenging goals? The answer lies very much in “sweet” and “hard’. We all like sweet things, even if this does not refer to sweets or something a sweet tooth will enjoy. Sweet goals will be those that make us excited and even bring a smile to our faces. Think about something like that, and then ask yourself if you may have set some sweet goals for yourself. It may be to spend more quality time with a good friend or family member. To perhaps have more time in nature this year, etc.
Challenging goals will be those we make, and we know it will take strong discipline, may cause uncomfortable situations, and even challenge us to leave our comfort zones altogether. It may be to get fit, live within a budget, and learn to stretch every cent. There are many examples of challenging goals.
I’m wondering if we should combine a hard and a sweet goal and what it would be like—for instance, getting a sport in nature which is fun and will lead to getting fit and spending more time in nature. Perhaps we can lose weight and make new friends by attending dance classes with old and new friends.
The secret to a happy life is to get out of your comfort zone while enjoying the challenge of something new. Procrastination typically makes us very unhappy as it leaves us with a feeling of helplessness when we get nothing done. Why don’t we decide to let go of procrastination and get going with sweet-hard goals? It may be life-changing…who knows?
Whatever you do, gorgeous Tribe, do it with all your heart!
Have a fabulous February 😊
